Identify the laboratory and sample
Look for the laboratory name, report identifier, customer or submitter when stated, sample description, and the batch or sample number that connects the report to the tested material.
Review the method and result
Confirm that each reported result names a method or procedure and uses clear units. Check whether the report distinguishes measured results, specifications, comments, and calculated values.
Check status and authorization
Review issue dates, revision status, page numbering, signatures or authorization indicators, and any limitations. Contact information should allow questions about authenticity or scope to be directed to the issuing laboratory.
