Educational scope: Laboratory documentation, analytical methods, and research recordkeeping only.
A shared reference
A batch number creates a common reference across the container label, supplier documentation, laboratory receiving record, and analytical certificate. It helps prevent records from being attached to the wrong material.
Record the identifier early
Capturing the batch number during receipt makes later reconciliation easier. Teams can include it in storage maps, preparation logs, instrument sequences, and study records.
Keep batches distinct
Two containers with the same product name may belong to different batches and therefore have different analytical documents. Batch-level separation supports a clearer audit trail.
