Retention time
Retention time describes when a detected component reaches the detector under the stated chromatographic conditions. Comparisons are meaningful only when procedure and system conditions are appropriately controlled.
Peak area and integration
Software integrates detector response across a peak to estimate area. Baseline selection, coelution, detector response, and integration parameters can influence the reported percentage.
System suitability
System-suitability tests help confirm that the analytical system is performing acceptably before or during sample analysis. The applicable checks depend on the intended procedure.
